Pretest
This is an independent student activity testing their knowledge regarding the teeth, how they work, and how we can protect them. Students will maneuver through the Tooth and Gum Café and answer multiple-choice questions. Individuals will be able to proceed at their own pace and answers will be anonymous.

Tooth Puzzle
In this paper-based activity, students will be introduced to the jobs of their teeth and will label the parts of a tooth. Using what they have learned, the students will assemble their own tooth out of tooth puzzle pieces.

Tex's Tooth Models Lab
Ever want to see inside of your mouth? Ever wonder why your teeth are different shapes and sizes? In this activity, students will construct a model of the mouth to learn about the different types of teeth and the jobs they have in our mouth. So, get your mouth ready for this exciting tooth lab!

Tooth Impressions
This is a large group activity allowing the students to observe the differences in the shapes and jobs of the teeth in their mouths, as well as the difference between the top set of teeth and the bottom set of teeth. Students will create a mold of their mouths using Styrofoam, and then use these molds to observe and note the differences.

Showdown at the DK Corral
Decay? Cavities? No Way! In this activity, students will be introduced to the Sugar Gang who is attempting to cause cavities down at the DK Corral. And it is the students’ job to stop them! Using their trusty toothbrush cursors, the students must whack the Sugar Gang when they appear in order to keep the teeth clean.

Tooth and Gum Café Arcade
This instructor-led lesson focuses on what causes cavities and how to avoid them. The lesson will cover such things as brushing, flossing, visiting the dentist and choosing healthy snacks. Students will be led through a number of activities and pictures to illustrate the importance of keeping the teeth healthy to avoid cavities. After the students have completed these activities, there will be an arcade game for them to play where they can squirt fluoride toothpaste at different foods traveling across the screen.

Decay? No Way! WebQuest
We should cherish our teeth because we only get two sets of teeth in our lifetime. Brushing regularly, food choices and other factors all determine the health of our teeth. This is an independent student activity focusing on exploring the Colgate Kids World website to learn more about dental health.

Save Our Tooth!
Nobody enjoys a cavity and we try to prevent them. In this “Hangman” style game, the students must guess the word before the Tooth Gremlin can create a cavity on the statue of Angus McTooth. If they fail to choose a correct letter 12 times, they will have a cavity! But if they can identify the word before then, Colonel Clean em’ Up will come to the rescue and clean the tooth. Once the students have identified the word, the instructor can choose to go onto a different word or quit the game.

Tooth Collage
This is an independent student activity allowing the students to display what they have learned throughout the unit. Students will create a collage showing examples of how to keep the teeth healthy, as well as why it is important to do so.

Tic Tac Teeth
Get ready to put your dental health knowledge to the test! In this activity, Sheriff Tex Tooth, his horse Paste, and the Sugar Gang will be reviewing the concepts that have been covered in the Decay? No Way! eLearning Kit©. After an explanation of how the game is played, Sheriff will introduce the players who will be participating. Let the games begin!

Interactive Video
Sheriff Tex Tooth from LearntobeHealthy.org and our health educator Suzanne will guide viewers as they learn about keeping teeth healthy at the Byrnes Health Education Center. Using engaging activities and critical-thinking questions, this video along with the accompanying lesson plan will encourage Kindergarten through 3rd graders to make healthy choices.
